All important details on how much and when you get charged.

On marko you pay digitally and securely. We support most credit and debit cards, including Mastercard and Visa, as well as ApplePay, GooglePay and SamsungPay, and of course TWINT. You can set up and manage your payment methods by clicking on your profile picture and following settings > payment.


When will my money be deducted?

It depends on the payment method.

  • When you pay with credit or debit card, we reserve the money for 7 days. This means if you accept the item or don't request a return within 48 hours after receiving the item, we'll charge you the amount. But, if the order gets canceled within the 7 days (usually because the seller doesn't ship), then the money reservation is canceled, and you don't get charged at all.

  • When you pay with TWINT, the money is immediately captured. If the order gets canceled or you request a return, you'll get a refund within a couple of business days.


Why am I being charged more than the item price?

The total transaction amount includes the price of the sale item, the buyer protection fee and in some cases, the costs of shipping the item to you. Shipping costs are set by the seller, and we charge a buyer protection fee of 5% (minimum of CHF 0.50) of the item's sale price on every sale to help secure your transaction. Is my payment safe?

Yes, your payment is safe. The seller will only receive your money if you are happy with the purchased item. Together with our payment partner Stripe, we secure the transaction and your money from when you purchase the item, until you receive it and are happy with it.


How do refunds work?

If the seller does not ship the purchased item or you do not like it, you will get your money back.

  1. If the seller doesn’t confirm the shipment of the item within 7 days, we’ll automatically cancel the purchase and you won't have any expenses.

  2. If the item doesn’t meet your expectations, you can initiate a return within two days of receipt or at the pickup appointment. Once the item is back with its seller, we’ll refund you the purchase price. However, the buyer protection fee as well as any applicable shipping costs are non-refundable.
